The Tempest is an upcoming movie adaptation of William Shakespeare’s play of the same name. The story of the movie will slightly differs from the original play though: the wizard Prospero is turned into a witch named Prospera. The film is written and directed by Julie Taymor and is starring Helen Mirren, Russell Brand, Alfred Molina, Djimon Hounsou, David Strathairn, Chris Cooper, Alan Cumming, Ben Whishaw, Reeve Carney and Felicity Jones. The Tempest movie will be released in theaters on December 10, 2010, but will first debut at the Venice film festival.
Here's a first look at Helen Mirren as Prospera in the Tempest movie:

Plot:
"Prospera is usurped by her brother and sent off with her four-year daughter on a ship. She ends up on an island; it's a tabula rasa: no society, so the mother figure becomes a father figure to Miranda. This leads to the power struggle and balance between Caliban and Prospera; a struggle not about brawn, but about intellect."
Helen Mirren looks great as Prospera. Impatient to watch the Tempest movie!
Director Julie Taymor chose Hawaii for its lavic landscapes, so we may expect not only great acting but also gorgeous landscapes in the Tempest.
